Rosco DigiComp® HD – Blue
The DigiComp® HD color standards are precisely manufactured for crisp, clean separation of the foreground and background in digital compositing – ensuring minimal post-production “touch-up” is required. Rosco DigiComp® HD paints are formulated to deliver the proper luminance and RGB values for optimal performance in digital compositing systems.
Utilizing single-source pigments, DigiComp® HD achieves a highly specific spectral reflectance and high-gain reflectivity. This produces a bright, narrow bandwidth of blue that is both simple to light and easy to key, reducing the need for extensive post-production corrections.
Rosco’s DigiComp® HD – Blue is ready for use straight out of the can, providing even coverage in two simple coats. Designed for most porous surfaces such as wood, wallboard, sheetrock, plaster, and concrete, it is important to clean, prime, and properly prepare the surface before application. Use a 3/8” nap roller or a spray gun for best results. Detailed application instructions are available in our guide and instructional video.
DigiComp® HD paints feature an ultra-flat finish—completely devoid of sheen or gloss. This is essential for blue screens, as any unwanted reflectivity can register as white or yellow on camera and compromise the keying effect.
While DigiComp® HD is offered in both green and blue, blue screens are generally recommended for film production, as the blue layer of the film emulsion is more sensitive. Ensure that your background color contrasts sharply with the primary elements in the foreground to achieve an effective key.
