CUTEK Extreme | Deep Penetrating Oil Protection 3.78L
Summary
Key Features
- Stabilizes wood to significantly reduce splitting, warping and cupping.
- Deep penetration and diffusion protects from within the wood structure.
- Unique self-healing effect migrates to cuts and perforations.
- No flaking or peeling unlike many traditional coatings.
- Fast and simple maintenance with no sanding or stripping required.
- Long-term cumulative protection builds over time.
- Enhances natural grain and texture without masking the wood.
- Sustainable choice by extending the service life of wood.
Ideal Applications
Suitable for most exterior wood applications. Not recommended for food preparation surfaces, wood in direct ground contact, or engineered bamboo products.
How CUTEK Extreme Works
CUTEK Extreme works differently from traditional stains, oils and film-forming coatings. Instead of creating a coating on the surface, it penetrates deeply into the wood and remains permanently mobile within the timber.
- Controls liquid and gas-phase moisture movement.
- Improves dimensional stability.
- Reduces warping, cupping and splitting.
- Migrates to cuts, fastener penetrations and exposed wood fibers.
- Provides a unique self-healing effect.
- Helps extend the overall service life of wood.
Unlike many so-called penetrating oils that dry into a surface film, CUTEK Extreme remains active inside the wood for ongoing protection.
Colour Options
CUTEK Colortones enhance and maintain the freshly oiled appearance of wood while providing UV colour protection. Final appearance varies by wood species, age, preparation and application method. Always test a sample before full application.

Clear Finish
Clear CUTEK Extreme will allow wood to naturally lighten and silver over time while still providing moisture protection.
Preparation
- New Wood: Wood must be bare, clean and dry before application.
- Weathered Wood: Use CUTEK Wood Reviver to restore natural colour and remove weathering.
- Previously Coated Wood: Remove old coatings before applying CUTEK Extreme.
- Previously Coated with CUTEK: Clean using CUTEK Quickclean before maintenance recoating.
Wood moisture content should be below 17% before coating.
Application Instructions
- Check the weather forecast before coating.
- Allow 3–5 days of dry conditions after application.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use.
- Apply thin, even coats using a brush or applicator pad.
- Allow each coat to fully penetrate before applying additional coats.
- For best results, coat all faces of timber before installation when possible.
CUTEK Extreme works best as multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat.

Maintenance
CUTEK Extreme will not crack, peel or split. Maintenance is simple and typically involves cleaning and recoating as required.
- Reapply when water is no longer beading on the surface.
- Horizontal surfaces generally require more frequent recoating.
- Maintenance coats typically use less product due to the cumulative protective effect.
- No sanding or stripping is normally required.

FAQs
- Does CUTEK Extreme peel or flake? No. It is designed to penetrate into the wood rather than form a surface film.
- Can I apply it over an existing stain? Existing coatings should be removed before applying CUTEK Extreme.
- What happens if I don't add a Colortone? The wood will naturally silver and weather over time while remaining protected.
- How often should I recoat? Recoat when water no longer beads on the surface or as needed to maintain colour appearance.
- Does it require sanding between maintenance coats? Typically no. Maintenance generally involves cleaning and recoating.
- What makes it different from other penetrating oils? Its unique self-healing technology allows it to remain mobile inside the wood and migrate to exposed areas for ongoing protection.
