Osmo TopOil High Solid is a premium food-safe hardwax oil for wood countertops, butcher blocks, chopping boards, tables, and interior furniture. Made from renewable plant oils and natural waxes, TopOil penetrates the wood to create a durable, water-repellent, dirt-resistant finish while preserving the natural texture and appearance of the surface. Once fully dry, Osmo TopOil is certified for direct food contact. It also resists common household spills including wine, beer, coffee, tea, juice, milk, cola, and water. Unlike many traditional film-forming finishes, its microporous surface will not crack, peel, flake, or blister.

• Ensure the wood is clean, dry, and frost-free.
• Wood moisture content should not exceed approximately 20%.
• Remove dirt, grease, dust, wax, and other surface contaminants.
• Completely remove old varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, and other film-forming coatings.
• Clean or lightly sand compatible existing microporous oil finishes.
• Sand bare wood evenly, typically finishing with approximately P120-P150 grit.
• Remove all sanding dust before applying TopOil.
• Do not use steel wool, which can leave metal particles in the wood.
• Ensure the product, wood, and surrounding air are within the recommended application temperature range.

1. Prepare the product: Shake or stir thoroughly before use. Osmo TopOil is ready to use and should not be thinned.
2. Apply the first coat: Apply a very thin, even coat using an Osmo flat brush or microfibre roller.
3. Distribute evenly: Work the finish in all directions, then finish along the wood grain.
4. Remove excess: Redistribute visible excess with a clean brush. Do not leave puddles or a heavy surface build.
5. Allow to dry: Provide good ventilation and allow approximately 8-10 hours under normal conditions.
6. Apply the second coat: Apply another very thin and even coat using the same method.
7. Final drying: Allow approximately 8-10 hours with good airflow before handling.

1. Shake or stir the product thoroughly before use.
2. Apply a small amount using a clean, lint-free cloth or Osmo Easy Pad.
3. Rub the product into the wood using circular or figure-eight movements.
4. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the oils to penetrate.
5. Wipe along the grain using a separate clean cloth to remove all visible excess.
6. Do not leave a wet film or visible product build on the surface.
7. Allow approximately 8-10 hours to dry with good ventilation.
8. Repeat using additional thin coats until the recommended finish build has been achieved.

Coverage varies significantly according to the wood species, surface condition, sanding profile, porosity, texture, and application tool. Published coverage applies to smooth, planed, or properly sanded wood.

• Wipe away spills promptly using a clean cloth.
• For routine cleaning, use Osmo Spray Cleaner and a soft cloth.
• Avoid harsh degreasers, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, and cleaners that strip oils or waxes.
• Do not leave standing water on the surface for extended periods.
• Refresh the surface when it begins to look dry, dull, worn, or when liquids stop beading.
• Apply a very thin maintenance coat of TopOil and remove all excess.
• Full-surface sanding is generally unnecessary when the existing finish remains sound and compatible.

1. Clean the damaged or worn area and allow it to dry completely.
2. Lightly sand the affected section if scratches, staining, or raised wood fibres are present.
3. Feather the sanding into the surrounding finish.
4. Remove all sanding dust.
5. Apply a very thin coat of the original TopOil finish.
6. Blend the application into the surrounding surface and remove visible excess.
7. Allow the repaired area to dry with good ventilation.
8. Apply an additional thin coat if required to match the surrounding protection and appearance.

• Use only in a well-ventilated area.
• Keep the product away from flames, sparks, and ignition sources.
• Wear suitable protective equipment during sanding and application.
• Oil-soaked cloths, pads, and sanding dust may generate heat and ignite spontaneously.
• After use, immediately place oil-soaked materials in water or spread them flat outdoors to dry completely before disposal.
• Do not leave used cloths crumpled, piled together, or inside a closed garbage container.
• Keep out of reach of children.

  Yes. It is suitable for wooden chopping boards and food-contact surfaces once fully dry.
• How many coats of Osmo TopOil are required?
  Apply two thin coats with a brush or microfibre roller. Cloth application generally requires approximately three to four very thin coats.
• How long does Osmo TopOil take to dry?
  Allow approximately 8-10 hours per coat under normal conditions with good ventilation. Cold temperatures, high humidity, or heavy application will extend the drying time.
• Does Osmo TopOil resist water and stains?
  Yes. The finished surface resists water and common household spills including wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, juice, and milk.
• Can TopOil be applied over polyurethane or varnish?
  No. Film-forming coatings must be completely removed so TopOil can penetrate directly into the wood.
• Does the wood need to be sanded between coats?
  Intermediate sanding is generally unnecessary when each coat is applied correctly. Lightly de-nib the surface only if roughness or raised fibres are present.
• Can Osmo TopOil be spot repaired?
  Yes. Scratches and worn areas can usually be repaired locally without sanding and refinishing the entire surface.
• Can I cut directly on a TopOil-finished countertop?
  Although the dry finish is food-safe, use a separate chopping board. Knives can physically cut and damage any finished wood countertop.
• What is the difference between TopOil and mineral oil?
  TopOil is a curing hardwax-oil that provides more durable resistance to moisture, staining, and everyday use. Mineral oil remains non-drying and generally requires more frequent reapplication.
• What is the difference between TopOil and polyurethane?
  TopOil penetrates and protects within the wood while maintaining a natural feel and allowing localized repairs. Polyurethane forms a separate surface film that may require more extensive sanding when damaged.
• Can Osmo TopOil be used outdoors?
  No. TopOil is intended for interior wood surfaces.
