Roscoflamex NF | Natural Fibers
Roscoflamex NF | For Natural Fiber Fabrics
Most fabrics made of natural fibers can be effectively treated using Roscoflamex NF. Whether you’re working with scenery, costumes, or upholstery, Roscoflamex NF is ideal for cotton, muslin, scrims, cotton netting, natural velours, wools, linens, natural felts, and most other decorative or garment fabrics made from natural fibers. Its easy-to-use, non-greasy formula makes it the best solution for ensuring your scenery and props meet local fire regulations.
Using Roscoflamex NF
Roscoflamex NF comes premixed and requires no further dilution. The method of application and the amount needed for sufficient treatment vary with the fabric in use.
Coverage
One gallon of Roscoflamex NF will treat approximately 500 square feet (46.4 square meters) of fabric.
Applying Roscoflamex NF
Dipping
This is the most efficient method of impregnation. Immerse the fabric completely for ten minutes, then hang to dry.
Brushing
Using a wide lay-in brush, apply the Flamex solution into the fibers of the material. Brush in a criss-cross pattern to ensure adequate absorption.
Spraying
When spraying, ensure that an adequate amount of the solution is absorbed. Keep in mind that a portion of the spray may not reach the fabric. Use a Hudson-type sprayer with a medium nozzle setting, and for best results, hang the material and spray in a back-and-forth pattern starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Note: Over saturating the fabric may cause it to stiffen or alter its hand. Always treat a test sample to determine the fabric’s reaction and confirm effective flame retardance.
Certification and Testing
Roscoflamex NF has been approved by the California and New York City Fire Marshall and has been tested according to NFPA 701 standards.
Storage
Store Flamex products in non-metallic containers. When using metal sprayers, ensure they are thoroughly cleaned immediately after use, including all nozzles and accessories. Avoid using metal buckets or paint containers when possible.
Disclaimer
Read the instructions provided with any Flamex product carefully.
