Roscoflamex WD | Raw Wood
Roscoflamex WD | For Raw Wood
Use Roscoflamex WD to treat wood and cellulosic materials. Plywood, board stock, sheet goods, hay, acoustical tile, and other common materials can all be rendered flame retardant with Roscoflamex WD. Once the treatment has fully dried, wood materials can be painted or stained without affecting their flame retardance.
Using Roscoflamex WD
Roscoflamex WD is premixed and requires no further dilution. The method of application and the amount required for sufficient treatment will vary based on the material in use.
Coverage
One gallon of Roscoflamex WD will treat approximately 150-200 square feet (14-18.5 square meters) of material.
Applying Roscoflamex WD
Dipping
This is the most efficient method of impregnation. Immerse the material completely for ten minutes, then hang to dry.
Brushing
Using a wide lay-in brush, apply the Flamex solution into the fibers of the material. Brush in a criss-cross pattern to ensure adequate absorption. Saturate the material, allow it to absorb the solution, and then reapply a second treatment.
Spraying
When applying via spray, it is essential that an adequate amount of the solution is absorbed. Remember that a substantial portion of the spray may not reach the material. Use a Hudson-type sprayer with a medium nozzle setting, saturate the material, allow it to absorb, and then reapply a second treatment.
Note: The absorption rate of wood or cellulosic materials can dramatically affect the effectiveness of the flame retardance. Always test for effective flame retardance before full-scale application.
Certification and Testing
Roscoflamex WD has been approved for use by the California and New York City Fire Marshall and has been tested according to ASTM E84 Class B.
Storage
Store Flamex products in non-metallic containers. When using metal sprayers, ensure they are thoroughly cleaned immediately after use—including nozzles and accessories. Avoid using metal buckets or paint containers whenever possible.
